Hangzhou Mangrove Tree Resort Hotel, Zhejiang, China

Location: Zhejiang, China
Site Area: 19.1 ha
Building Area: 232,400 sqm
Client: Antaeus Group

This project is located in Jingshan Town, Yuhang District, Hangzhou, which is recognized widely for its Jingshan Zen Tea, and mangroves. ZNA’s design focus is to enhance the vacation lifestyle and character of Hangzhou. The core of our design concept is the mangrove tree and the integration of the Zen Tea’s spirit into the architectural and landscape spaces. ZNA designers divided the required spaces with streets, paths, halls and yards, creating a large resort complex with a small scale feeling, both humanistic and naturally interesting. We combined a unique film zone and art zone together, within the main hotel lobby. This concept led to a path that circulates around a Thai restaurant, the art zone, the film zone, a Spa, a private club and conference hall using a street shaped like the number “8”. With the design concept for the visitor to enjoy many pleasant small scale spaces the designers wove small scale humanistic design, classical architecture and the beautiful landscapes of Hangzhou together.
