As the high-speed railway station, Harbin West Railway Station (HaXi Station) positions its forecourt plaza as a citizen leisure square that meets the requirements of traffic and pedestrian evacuation from the railway station. The plaza includes a public parking lot with 800 parking spaces for private vehicles, a bus parking building accommodating 10 bus routes, a railway exhibition hall, and a riverside commercial street along the scenic green belt of Hejia Gou. Based on the terraced existing topography and the Hejia Gou River flowing through the site, various themed and sized civic activity areas are arranged, turning the space into a stage where visitors and citizens become actors, creating an engaging interactive relationship of observation and participation. The overall design of the west square of Harbin West Railway Station will prompt people to rethink and redefine the essence of the forecourt plaza, offering a renewed understanding of Harbin's distinctive contemporary vitality.
